The Objective of Ayushman Bharat Yojna

However, even now the major part of the country still remains deprived of basic healthcare facilities.

Highlights of the Yojana

Launched on 23rd September 2018, the Yojana has been divided majorly into two crucial schemes.

  1. Health and Wellness Centers.
  2. National Health Protection Scheme.

While the above remain the main objectives of Ayushman Bharat Yojana , it will also promote multiple other areas of healthcare that would include the following.

  • Cashless treatment at both Private and Public hospitals/health care centers.
  • Coverage of pre-existing diseases right from the time of enrolment.
  • A cover of 5 Lacs per family with no cap for family size or age of family members.
  • A fixed allowance for transportation from place of residence to the nearest registered hospital.
  • The cover would make one eligible to access across country with registered health providers of the scheme.

It would also cover medicines except Allopathic medicines. Known as AYUSH (Alternative Medicine Systems other than Allopathic)

Health and Wellness Centers

In our Country, the death rate is quite alarming when compared to other countries. The main reason for this is because of the deprivation in providing primary healthcare in case of medical emergencies.

The Health and Wellness Centers are being built with an aim at providing primary healthcare to patients to stabilize their condition before reaching out for secondary and tertiary medical care.

This way multiple lives can be saved. The scheme targets at having this facility and multiple location, in order to cover maximum cities, towns and villages giving everyone in need of medical care, a possible opportunity to make it through any health condition.

Targeting a PAN India presence, this initiative will enable the poorest of poor to avail basic medical facilities thus striving in improving the overall health of the Nation. Testing its pilot project, the first state to be able to access these facilities would be Uttar Pradesh, which would help the decision makers plan the implementation better in other states.

National Health Protection Scheme

Many have been denied treatment due to unavailability of cash at various healthcare facilities across the country. This denial has shook the nation and there is basically no stringent policy to overcome this issue.

The National Health Protection scheme, aims at providing cashless treatment to patients at various medical facilities to give everyone an equal chance to encash their opportunity at being healthy again.

Specifically designed to uplift the poor who are denied of the basic right to avail healthcare facility at hospitals, this scheme is one of the biggest government aided scheme that has been done keeping in mind the reformation of the poor and needy.

Termed as a game-changer, this scheme is being globally discussed and Modi has won many applauds to have launched an initiative like this.

Ayushman Bharat Yojna Cover Inclusions

With 1350 programme planned across 23 specialties, this scheme should be able to cater to various health ailments and provide the required medical attention for the same.

The scheme caters to 253 packages under general surgery, with urology department having 161 package to avail from specifically.

Like any other medical cover available in the market, this scheme would also include the following facilities. They are:

  • Room and Bed Charges
  • Procedure Cost
  • Nursing Care
  • Doctor Fee
  • Pre-hospitalization diagnostics
  • Consultation
  • 2 Weeks of Medicine – Post treatment
  • Follow Up – 2 Weeks Post Treatment
  • Stitch Removal and Care

While the Ayushman Bharat Yojna is in its seeding stage and has a lot to achieve, we stand delighted for this movement to have come into existence. The Nation’s health has been Mr Narendra Modi’s main agenda from the beginning of his tenure. With many other initiatives functioning and performing, this Yojana would definitely be a milestone in improvising and monitoring the healthcare facilities for the poor and needy.
